World Scholar's Cup 2015 Penang Regional Round - An Experience to Remember



The World Scholar's Cup is an international team academic tournament with students participating from over 40 countries. The World Scholar's Cup has attracted what it calls "a global community of future scholars and leaders", and promotes that it allows participants to "discover strengths and skills you never knew you had." However, despite technically being a competition, The World Scholar's Cup focuses far more on bringing students from different cultures together to discuss issues and ideas relevant to today and the future.

Six debaters of MRSM Baling are sent to the Regional Round in Penang to qualify for the Global Round set in Kuala Lumpur this June. The event was held at the Prince of Wales Island International School. The competition, which was held on 4th to 5th April 2015 has spawned so much memories for the participants. The teams :

TEAM 527 - Amirah Huda, Shafiqa Amira and Nini Fazli
TEAM 528 - Dienta Alias, Aina Trisha and Hana Hakim

A total of 4 events are held in this tournament which comprises of Team Debate, Collaborative Writing, Scholar's Challenge and Scholar's Bow. This year marks the third time of MRSM Baling's involvement in the World Scholar's Cup with a lot of accolades under our belt.

The Awards are :

29th Debate Individual - Dienta Alias
20th Debate Individual - Nini Fazli
6th Team Debate - TEAM 527 - Amirah Huda, Nini Fazli, Shafiqa Amira
1st Place Scholar's Challenge : Social Studies - Shafiqa Amira
Best Participant from School - Shafiqa Amira

With both teams qualified for the Global Round in Kuala Lumpur on June, all parties are satisfied with a cry of 'PWAAA-some!'
